When you come to the Audubon Zoo, which is located in New Orleans Louisiana, you'll find that there are so many amazing animals to check out, you might not know where to start, but the first place is to meet the animals!

For example, Watoto Walk is an amazing petting zoo where you can pet sheep and goats and they roam freely in this 3,000 square foot enclosed space, be sure to keep track of the time as the Walk closes at 3:30 p.m., so you want to ensure that you don't save this one for last. Your children and grand children will love this part of the zoo. That is my son and grand daughter in the pictures below so i know 1st hand the fun the little ones will have.

Birds In Audubon Zoo

Ready to check out the beautiful pink flamingos? You'll be so surprised when you see them all standing together. They are so beautiful as they walk with their tall and elegant long legs. You can ask questions about their nesting abilities, how they fly, lay eggs and how they raise their babies. Also ask how they drink water upside down? Because you can get up close and personal with them, be sure to bring your camera so you can take pictures.

Next on your to do list is to check out the bird exhibit the Audubon Aviary. This amazing interactive exhibit, will let you feed birds and you can actually put a little bug or a worm and your hand and watch the birds swoop down to pick them up or throw the bug up in the air and have the birds fly to catch them. Youíll be surprised when you find out that there are over 30 different species of birds to see, so be sure to check them out and try to see if you can take a picture of each one.

Are you really ready to feed the alligator? That's the question you have to ask yourself as you get ready for this interactive exhibit. Well, itís not that interactive, you get to stand at a distance which is a good thing, as you see the alligators being fed. You can ask different questions about these animals as you stand and watch them from a good distance at the Louisiana swamp exhibit.

Next, be sure to check out the reptile encounter, where you may catch lizards running around, or you can see turtles that you can pet. Also be sure to check out the Cobras, Vipers, and chameleons and see if you can catch them changing colors.

Other animals that you may want to check out while you're here include the amazing elephants as they show their strength and power, as well as the really tall giraffes that you can feed. They have exhibits set up where you can see them at certain times and feed them, so be sure to check this out.

TIP FOR PARENTS: See if your child can catch the chameleon changing colors and get different pictures for their albums. This can be fun and interactive for them Ė Just make sure you have a full battery or your charger!
